wild horses run

wild horses run
in sleepless nights to steal you from the words
to steal your breath like that day racing bareback down the fence line

hold on tight
to his mane
with my hands on your hips
and press your thighs
tight through sweat soaked denim

highway 20 south is calling where the prairie meets the sky
where the mustangs ran when I was a boy and your father caught us hiding in your closet

run away
run with me tonight when the sun sets beyond the barbed wire fences and the tiny letters on the screen
are never enough to say
you were always on my mind
